Welcome to the Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.®
Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.®, is a professional organization of registered nurses and nursing students. Aliene C. Ewell, RN organized the Sorority on October 16, 1932, with the assistance of 11 other courageous registered nurses. The charter chapter, Alpha Chapter Inc, was organized at Freedman’s Hospital in Washington D.C. for two specific purposes: elevating the plane of nursing, and increasing interest in the field of nursing. The graduate and undergraduate (Beta) chapters are grouped into five regions according to geographic areas. The chapters are located throughout the United States, Washington D.C., St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Guided by the motto “Service for Humanity”, the Sorority has programs focusing on health promotion/disease prevention, leadership development, mentoring, recruitment, retention and scholarship. Our Story
Lambda Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. was chartered October 11, 1986, in Arlington, Texas, at St. Barnabus Church.
National President, Josephine Alexander, National Organizer, Daisy Borel and Middlesouth Regional Director, Mary L. Watkins, initiated the chapter members: Nora Alston, Georgetta Baptist, Bertha Conley, Glenda Daniels, Bobbie Hargrove, Vera Harris, Carol Kelly, Dorothy McRae, Jean Roberson, Pamela Roberson, Vesta Turner, and Eva Williams.
These 12 ladies embarked on the journey of sisterhood, service for humanity, disease prevention, and leadership.
